While I agree that true curmudgeonry is something we all aspire to and that age is an important aspect, you left off "time in sport". Despite not qualifying in the age category, I find myself trending more and more toward curmudgeonry based on now having decades (gods!) of experience, having started fishing with a fiberglass rod, and remembering when automatic reels were widely available and Pflueger Medalists were downright common (as well as made in the USA).
Oh, I almost forgot- back then fish were bigger, water flowed faster, rocks were less slippery, and only Lee Wulff ever used a size 20 fly.
mdm,
You have all the finest characteristics of a fly fishing curmudgeon and despite your youth, you show tremendous promise. Now just work on the odor and in a few years... you will be delightfully insufferable. Remember, an opinion is only worth the energy you're willing to use to defend it; sufficient dedication and actual truth becomes irrelevant. |
