Hehe, looks like everyone with a fishing blog reviewed this book. Nice review, Reed. I hope all is well with you. Take care,
Nathan
It's funny but the book was 2200 pages when I turned it into Harper Collins and together we cut it 860 and things tend to get left out or not put in context. The anecdote about the woman I saw at the reunion did have a fishing connection but it didn't make it (cut from later in the chapter.) Probably wasn't relevant enough or funny enough to include anyway (looking back, it wasn't) but it's also funny what one will include in a book that size. I look back now and wish I had not included this or that, wish I had included the thing I did not include and so on.
The book is awfully awkwardly big, too, I agree. And my wife would no doubt agree about the steam element. Nevertheless, I appreciate you taking the time to review the book. Heck, I appreciate each of the bloggers taking the time to look at and review the book. Thanks Mark D. Williams
Mark,
Thank you for the gracious response to my review. Twenty-two hundred pages! You've done a great job of pulling it all together. The "cutting room floor" probably contains an entire book unto itself. I was being facetious about the size of the book. Oh, it is a might tome indeed, and for a fishing volume it is voluminous, but how else can one cover so much water? I hope this book is well-received. As I wrote, your insights into the nature of "good fishing" are worth the price of admission. Warm regards, Reed
I would also suggest keeping a copy in your boat, not only for reference but also an anchor!
I enjoyed reading your review on the book. I think it was pretty fair. I have found the book to be quite interesting in it's own way. I wouldn't sit and read cover to cover, but I think it makes a good addition to any fisherman's library. God bless, Insane |
